The Buffalo Bills' addition of high-priced defensive free agent Mario Williams was celebrated by the team's fans as a sign the franchise was on its way toward earning respect, four games into Williams' tenure, however, the move is proving to be a disaster for both player and team. Fan support has quickly disappeared for Williams, who has just nine tackles and 1 1/2 sacks in the first month of the season, particularly troubling is Williams' no-show efforts in two AFC East games. He has just three combined tackles in blowout losses to the New York Jets and New England Patriots, games in which the Bills have given up a mind-blowing 100 combined points, worse for Williams, his complaints with the officiating and cool relationship with the media are not winning over any would-be supporters. Each NFL team is designated two players that are permitted to speak to the media only twice a week, after games and on the team's media day, Williams is the only Bills player to utilize that distinction. That's his and the team's right, but fans want answers for his lackluster performance through the Bills' 2-2 start, and in this case, his silence is speaking volumes. Source: Sporting News
Thinking back to draft day where everyone marvelled at the potential of the Bills D-Line, it's almost unbelievable after watching them getting completely obliterated by the Pats O-Line from start to finish.
I always felt like Williams was an underacheiver at times. One week he would have a good game, then the next few weeks he is kinda just out there.
should have went to another team other then buffalo or stay with the skins im sure thats atleast part of the reason
Well he got the big check already, what else is supposed to motivate people to play in Buffalo again?
well, i think there were quite a few of us that discussed his mega contract and why he would have chosen the bills. there was a thought that he would disappear after getting paid. i'm not sure if that's what's going on here but it wouldn't surprise me.
The thing is, the Bills have no legit pass rusher opposite of Williams, so teams can double team him with no worries.
How on earth could that be a typo? Did you accidently type "skins" when thinking Texans? Might need to see a GP about that.
eh, while i agree that williams is the guy getting the most attention, to say teams have 'no worries' when they double team him is inaccurate. the bills d-line has 9 sacks in 4 games. Even though williams only has 1.5 of them, i believe he has elevated the play of their entire d-line's pass rush greatly just by his precense. i think their d-line only had about 16 sacks all of last year so their production thus far has more than doubled. having said that, this team is still struggling immensely stopping the run and stopping the pass when they don't sack the qb. i don't know if it's a scheme issue or a lack of talent or both but they still make bad offenses look good and good offenses look all-world and just having williams there is not going to fix it.
