New York Mets ace R.A. twinkyey's Cy Young-caliber season has this remarkable wrinkle: It came while pitching with a torn abdominal muscle.

After making his final 2012 start on Tuesday night, twinkyey revealed he tore and possibly detached the stomach muscle during his second start of the season, on a cold April 13 night in Philadelphia. He has dealt with "dull pain" in his stomach area throughout the season.

twinkyey knew a couple of months ago, after undergoing an MRI, that he would require postseason surgery. He said he regularly prayed with his wife that he would be able to get through the season.

    Cletusaurus YES! YES! YES!

If it was on his left side, it wouldn't be AS "amazing" I think. The fact that it's on his right (pitching) side is completely nuts. He's lucky as well that he's a soft-tossing knuckler- if he was a guy that threw 90+ gas or a lot of breaking stuff, he'd have been under the knife in April.

He pitches better injured than healthy.

Is Philly code for Mt. Kilimanjaro???
