Texans linebacker Brian Cushing suffered what appears to be a torn left ACL, suffered when he was rolled on a questionable block by New York guard Matt Slauson early in the second quarter of the Texans’ closer-than-it should’ve been 23-17 win over the Jets here last night. An MRI will be performed today when the Texans get back home to confirm Houston’s worst fears. Following a disturbing trend set by Andre Johnson, DeMeco Ryans, Arien Foster, Mario Williams and Matt Schaub, the first-time-ever 5-0 Texans’ road to the Super Bowl just got a whole lot bumpier. “I don’t really know what happened,’’ said Kubiak, following Houston’s first primetime road victory. “They tell me he got caught on a play and his foot might’ve gotten stuck in the turf. “Obviously, that’s crisis No. 1. We’ll take him home and get it looked at. Obviously, we’re very concerned. Let’s sit here and hope for the best.’’ Instead, the news on Cushing, a second team all pro last year and the Texans’ MVP, couldn’t be worse“It’s gonna mean a lot,’’ defensive end Antonio Smith said. “Cush is one of the cornerstones of the defense. “He’s the captain. He’s a playmaker. He’s a big part of our defense. “We’re gonna miss him a lot if he’s gone, but we’re gonna keep on trucking.’’ Source: Houston Chronicle
yes, it's a huge blow to that defense for January. obviously, they don't really have any competition for the division with or without cushing but for their hopes to go far in January, this absolutely hurts them.
