Dolphins rookie QB Ryan Tannehill seems to make history whenever he takes the field.

The eighth-overall pick in April's draft continued to pencil his name into the record book following a 17-13 win over the Bengals last weekend. Tannehill is the only rookie in NFL history to pass for more than 1,200 yards in his first five games and record at least two wins.

Overall, the former Texas A&M star has completed 57.4 percent of his passes for 1,269 yards with two touchdowns against six interceptions. He also has a rushing score.

“He's stepping up in the pocket and finding throws to make,â€￾ Dolphins offensive coordinator Mike Sherman said. “He had a great throw to (Davone) Bess on a scramble in the game. He's created some plays with his feet by pushing up in the pocket. Yeah I would say those two areas, push in the pocket and decision making have definitely improved.â€￾

i've had a chance to see a few phins games and the kid is not doing too bad, especially considering most of us thought he was a huge reach.

i just havent been impressed by inflated passing numbers. 2 TDs is awful, he looks like crap in the redzone and one of his TDs was that abortion of a coverage play against hartline for 80 yards

yards just arent telling the story here

well, the article is talking about his 'stats'. i quite honestly didn't even read the article and havent looked at his stats at all this year. i was speaking of the games i've watched him, he's not nearly as far over his head as i thought he would be in this league. he's actually been decently poised and is often reading the defenses pretty well for a guy who only has 5 nfl games under his belt.

obviously he is going to need to keep getting better to become a legit nfl qb but it's really not a bad start in my opinion.

The dolphins have been one of the top running teams, no need to force a rookie to pass in the red zone if you can run it in.

I always find it funny when they say guys break records like this. First guy to pass for this many yards in this many games while winning this many games. It's so obscure. Lol.

In other news, Tannehill sets NFL record for most yards in a single game by a rookie quarterback in the AFC fromTexas A&M with a 3 syllable last name. Congratulations.

    What a stupid butt 'accomplishment'.

Newton had 1,600 yards his first five games. But only won a single game.

Next week he'll set another record: throwing for 1,350 yards and at least two wins as well as throwing off his back foot in the ninth minute of the third quarter in game 6 of his first six games.

They should check to see if Brandon Weeden is the 1st 28 year old Browns rookie QB to throw a foward pass twice on the same play while in the redzone against an NFC East team.
