Lions defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh doesn't care if people perceive him as a dirty player, Vaughn McClure of the Chicago Tribune reports. He defended the "football play'' he made against Bears quarterback Jay Cutler on Monday night, a hit that sent Cutler tumbling and injured his ribs. "People are always going to have their opinions,'' Suh said. "It's not going to hurt my feelings.'' There were no harsh words between us,'' said Suh, who was fined $15,000 for a hit on Cutler in 2010. "I wanted to make sure he was good. I'm never a person to injure anybody and take anybody out of the game. "That's why I checked on him when he was there on the ground. I asked one of his people if he was OK. He got up, ran by me, hit me in my stomach and told me he was fine. And later on, I checked on him again." Source: The Redzone
I'm not a huge fan of Suh... but why would he apologize? It's football. He crushed him. He didn't break his leg or anything.
Perfect example of a guy's reputation making people see things that aren't there. I didn't see anything dirty or illegal.
Hated seeing Cutler go down like that but it wasn't anything but hard nosed football. Plus it was classy of Suh to check on him. Take him on the Bears in a heartbeat...
Agree with all of the above. Suh gets a crap wrap for playing hard nosed football...which is unfair to him. I'd love to have him on the Steelers!
well, i somewhat agree with the thoughts here. this hit was legal and not dirty. however, he HAS done dirty/illegal things on the field and he is generally a very unlikable human being off the field. THAT is why people don't like him and that's why they will always pile on him for anything he does, even in this case where it was legal and just hard-nosed football.
