Giants coach Tom Coughlin and co-owner John Mara raised some eyebrows after Sunday's 29-24 win when they expressed surprise that the Cowboys were able to run three plays in the game's final 10 seconds.

A day later, Coughlin took an even stronger tune.

"The longest 10 seconds I’ve ever been around," Coughlin said on a conference call today. "Three plays in 10 seconds, two of which went to the end zone, seems a little much to me. We’ll have to see if we ca get some response from the league on that."

This morning, an NFL spokesman said "there were no issues with the clock." Reached later in the day, after Coughlin's call for an answer from the league, the spokesman said NFL VP of officiating Carl Johnson was not aware of any clock issues this morning, but it's standard procedure to research and review questions teams bring to the league.

The league office is currently closed due to the expected arrival of Hurricane Sandy, which makes it difficult for the league to review plays and get back to teams.

Coughlin has not said outright that the Cowboys got a hometown advantage in the operation of the clock, but he strongly hinted at that today.

"What do you mean, what do I think the reason is for it? You were at the game, you saw it," Coughlin said. "I don’t have any answer for you, other than the fact that… two plays into the end zone are going to take more than four seconds apiece, so I just don’t have anything for you other than that. You have to speculate on the rest of that."
