Los Angeles Lakers coach Mike Brown thinks it's possible Steve Nash will only be out a week because of the fracture to his left leg but that the team isn't putting pressure on him to rush back. "You obviously hope he's back as soon as possible," Brown said Sunday after the team's shootaround. "But the one thing you don't want to do, you don't want to compromise his long-term health for him coming back quicker than he should. So, (trainer) Gary Vitti and the staff are on top of it. We'll just wait and play it out from there." Nash suffered a small fracture to his fibula in a collision with Portland rookie Damian Lillard on Wednesday night. He missed the Lakers' 105-95 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers on Friday night, when the Lakers dropped to 0-3 for the first time in 34 years. "We got capable guys that can step up and fill his spot and that's what we're going to have to get," Brown said. "Obviously Darius (Morris) is going to get some minutes so it's going to help his growth and (Steve) Blake is going to get a chance to play with the starting group, so we'll be able to see what he's going to be able to bring to the table and we'll just go from there." haha. the lakers have fired mike brown just 5 games into the season. this is like an nfl team firing their coach after the 1st game. the lakers are in shambles and it couldn't happen to a better group of players ......... with kobe, howard, and metta all on the same team, anything bad that happens to them is a good thing.
Just like the Heat when the Three Amegos joined forces at South Beach. A group of stars, but no worker bees to do the little things. I've heard that Kobe has told the Lakers he plans to retire in 2014. Wonder if he still plans to do that?
crap, compared to the sleaze bags that make up the Lakers current 'Big 3', the Heat's 'Big 3' are now going to be viewed as great guys. hopefully. the sooner he exits the nba, the better it will be for the league.
eh, i dunno. all kobe offers is his physical talents. dude really isn't that great of a human being. i've seen what he can do physically for many years and it's time to move on. it's time to elevate some of the newer stars of the nba that seem to be of a higher caliber of human being. guys like kobe, howard, and metta are not good for the nba.
well, this sucks. apparently jackson would like to come back to the lakers which means they're going to get really good again. maybe the spurs or thunder or heat can knock them out of the playoffs ...........
I heard this morning that if Phil comes back to LA, he wants more of a say on basketball operations. I think he's supposed to decide tomorrow. If they can't get Phil, LA wants D'Antoni. If they can't get him, they want Dunleavy.
I hope it's the Thunder. I hate the Spurs and the Heat. With my luck, it'll be the Heat against the Lakers in the NBA Finals.
well, it looks like the lakers organization is going to step on their crank again and hire d'antoni over jackson. excellent!!
The deal with D'Antoni is for three years. Or, until he pisses off Kobe. In that case, D'Antoni will be gone by Christmas.
No, he wanted too much say in basketball operations. That probably didn't sit too well with Buss and Kupchak.
It was the amount of control he wanted.. including ownership in the team. He wanted the moon, and while he probably deserved it, they weren't willing to give it.
i was totally shocked they didnt hire jackson. i think they made a big mistake not taking jackson. he has the rings and knows how to win.
and i've heard several different 'reasons' why the lakers decided not to hire phillip ............. the triangle doesn't fit their players, he was asking for too much money, he was asking for ownership, blah blah blah. i think kupcheck and buss just decided that they didn't want to deal with phil's ego again ............. they think they can do it better. i'm glad they decided that .....................
