In a wild game that featured 24 points in the final nine minutes of regulation and two missed field goals in overtime, the 49ers and Rams tied, 24-24, today at Candlestick Park. St. Louis appeared to have all but won when quarterback Sam Bradford connected with wideout Danny Amendola on a 80-yard pass down to San Francisco’s two-yard line on the first play of overtime but the apparent game-winner, however, was called back on an illegal-formation penalty. Similarly, San Francisco blew its chance to win in overtime after the Rams opening drive ended in a punt, but David Akers’ 41-yard field-goal attempt sailed wide left. On St. Louis’ next drive, rookie Greg Zuerlein’s 58-yard attempt sailed wide right after a delay-of-game penalty wiped out his apparent 53-yard, game-winner on the previous play. It was the first tie in the NFL since Nov. 16, 2008, when the Eagles and Bengals finished knotted at 13-13. Source: San Francisco Chronicle

College OT rules are horrible! It's not even football. You take out over half the field and a third of the game... It's a tie. Really...who cares. A tie is a tie. They happen and when they do, it's freaking rare. No need to switch up the entire game because of it.
i agree with ward. in the regular season, who gives a crap if the teams can't break a tie after 75 game minutes. they deserve to tie at that point. and regarding the 49ers ................ once again, i have to say i still think everyone keeps stroking them as the SB favorite and calling them the most balanced team in the league without any just cause. their offense keeps disappearing too often and is a concern.

BINGO! The NFL needs to do something about that. No fan pays their hard earned money to go to an NFL game to see it end in a tie.

So I didn't see this game but I heard there was an error that the officials made that took 1:30 off the game clock and that the inflation time of the game was really only 58:30? Where's the outrage?!? I got say, if this was replacement officials, there'd by hell to pay!!!
