Washington Redskins coach Mike Shanahan lost more than a game last month at Heinz Field. Shanahan also lost his passport and $3,700 cash that was left in a leather briefcase during his team’s game at Pittsburgh on Oct. 28. Alan Robinson of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports Shanahan filed a report with Pittsburgh police and that later the passport and money were discovered in another bag. That is not the case, according to Redskins director of security Ed Burke. “Mike Shanahan did have money and a passport stolen out of his locker room in Pittsburgh,†Burke said in a statement released this morning, according to the Washington Post. “The Pittsburgh Police insisted on filing a police report because of the missing passport. There is an ongoing investigation. The missing property was not stowed in another bag as reported.†These types of situations arise from time to time and players will tell you it is unsafe to leave money and valuables accessible in a locker room, even among teammates.
