To no great surprise, Jim Washburn was nonplussed when his protege, Jason Babin, was released by the Eagles on Tuesday, sources close to the defensive line coach said. Washburn was upset, according to one source, because he believed that Babin was being scapegoated for the deficiencies of the Eagles defense, especially up front. Andy Reid said Tuesday after he cut Babin that Washburn was OK with the move. A request made through the Eagles to interview Washburn was declined. Babin led the Eagles with 5-1/2 sacks through 11 games, but his production had dipped from last season when he recorded 18 sacks and made his second straight Pro Bowl. Source: Philadelphia Inquirer
Isn't this true for a lot of players that have big years? Teams watch film and come up with schemes to deal with these dominant players, regardless of position. I just look at Patrick Peterson of the Cards who had 4 punt returns for TD's last year and a 15.9 yards/return average in his rookie year. This year? Zero TD's and an 8.4 yards average return. How many WR's have had down years the year following a big season? Opposing teams learn in the film room. It just seems like the assumption is Babin got the fat contract, kicked back and the front line production dropped. I'm just guessing on all of the above.
babin just got picked up on waivers by the jaguars ........... not sure why the jags would do that ......... it's not like they're contending ........... strange
Well you probably won't have to be upset too much longer. Go join him in Jacksonville if you really want to haha
