There are some experts out there who believe in Mark Sanchez -- namely, his own quarterbacks coach.

"I'm generally pleased. He's still developing, but it's hard to ask for patience when you're 4-7, but I think with a young quarterback whose got talent, you've got to be patient," Matt Cavanaugh said, via The Star-Ledger's Mike Vorkunov.

It may appear that Sanchez has made too many game-changing mistakes, but Cavanaugh pointed out that isn't the case. "I know he's getting smarter. I know he's making better decisions overall. If he'd have thrown 10 interceptions and we were 7-4, I don't know if we'd be talking about him. It's magnified because we're 4-7 and he's the quarterback," he said.

Sanchez received compliments earlier in the week from someone else -- legendary Jets quarterback Joe Namath gave him a vote of confidence.

"I believe Mark Sanchez can be a championship quarterback as long as he has the right supporting cast, yes I do," Namath told Newsday's Bob Glauber Tuesday. "He hasn't shown me enough yet to give up on him. To say he can't? Excuse me, he's just finishing his fourth year. Who's to say he can't get better? He sure as hell works hard enough."

Namath sympathized with what Sanchez has dealt with this season, including the fumble off his lineman's backside. "I know what he's going through. Every bad play I made was embarrassing and angered me. I went through a lot of stuff and wasn't happy a lot of the time. But Mark's handled it well. He just keeps plugging away," Namath said.

who are you trying to kid coach ?

he has not improved ......... a lot of people think he's regressed since being drafted in 2009 but in general he was very overrated his first couple of seasons because the team did well.

he's the same qb he was as a rookie and that's the problem. he has not improved and 4 years is PLENTY of time for all of us to know what he is.

They probably brought tebow in so he would pray really hard for Sanchez to improve.

God knows they aren't doing anything else with Tebow. And obviously his prayers aren't being answered.

You really wonder if the Jets really believe this BS. Are they not seeing what we all see?
