After murdering his 22-year-old girlfriend, Jovan Belcher leaned over to say he was sorry and kissed her on the forehead, according to The Kansas City Star.

The paper reports that Belcher's mother watched the tragic goodbye after rushing into her son's bedroom when she heard gunfire. Then, according to The Star, Belcher apologized to his mother before kissing his 3-month-old daughter and departing for the Chiefs' complex.

Police say the Chiefs had been providing counseling to Belcher and his girlfriend, Kasandra Perkins. Police Sgt. Richard Sharp told The Star that the couple had been arguing over relationship and financial issues for months and that the team had been "bending over backward" trying to help them.

Just got an email from my brother who lives in KC. Probably the same stuff you're hearing in KC, CaptainStubing, about Belcher. This is from him so I don't have a written source. I really haven't heard or read anything enlightening about the situation

My brother says that Belcher had a history of explosive behavior with the first incident being him slamming his fist through a window at Maine and nearly severing his thumb off. So apparently a powder keg for a temper was involved.

Since he got concussed in the Cincinnati game he had very little short-term memory thereafter. Shortly after that happened he began to hit the bottle every night of the week and mixed that with some narcotics.

The Chiefs were very aware of the domestic problems he was having and they were the one to arrange counseling for Belcher and his girlfriend/wife. Apparently the relationship was in such a shambles that she knew it was going to end and threatened him with taking all of his money when they did split. He said that she left him and went to Texas, but begged her to come back to KC. She arrives back in KC and he kills her.

That's about all he has heard and a lot more than what I've read. When all the facts come out I'm guessing it's going to be ugly. Anything else you hearing in KC, Captain?

Said the bottom line was that the guy was at the end of his fuse as far as his temper, then you add the booze and the narcs and the rest his history. Like WARD said in another thread, if they pin this on his consussion, that would just suck. His history of violent behavior appears to be at the center of this horrid episode.

Did he apologize and kiss her before or after shooting her 8 or 9 times? I've heard both before and a story that it was after.

Just need to hear the facts. My brother's 2 cents is probably a hand-me-down.

here is how I look at it... a murderer took his own life. The only people who deserve my thoughts are the victims and those left behind to deal with it. I've got no use for excuses about having a short temper or being frustrated... It's all BS

it's one thing to kill yourself, but to deprive your kid of his mother before you take your own life for the easy way out? i'm sorry he took her life, but i got no sympathy for him.don't forget,he did it right in front of his own mother!
