According to PFW's Hub Arkush, the Raiders are in talks with Gruden to see if he has interest in returning to Oakland. As Raiders head coach from 1998-01, he posted a 38-26 regular-season record, after moving to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in a trade in '02, he led the Bucs to a victory over the team he helped build in Oakland in Super Bowl XXXVII.

Jon Gruden is rumored to be the Raiders' top coaching target, but he's got a good job with Monday Night Football—and Oakland still has its first-year coach.

Gruden has remained committed to ESPN, but his name will be linked to every potential opening.

The warm feelings the Raiders had for Gruden were rekindled when he attended their home game against New Orleans on Nov. 18, Gruden was called on to honor late owner Al Davis by lighting a torch in the Coliseum to represent "The Fire That Burns Brightest."

and then after coaching the raiders for a few years and building them up, gruden will be traded once again to the Bucs and win a SB over his former team ................

    deja vu ..............

I'd take him back, but he better be given ATLEAST 3 years to turn the ship around. I'm pretty tired of having a new HC every year or two.

yes, it is somewhat understandable when Al was alive and had no patience, they were going through coaches very quickly.

In this case, however, Allen was the new g.m. McKenzie's choice. His first act was to fire Hue Jackson (which some questioned since Jackson seemed to have them on a winning track) and hire Allen so to fire Allen after 1 season would basically show that McKenzie's first decision was a major failure.

With Al Davis no longer on the scene the amount of free speech with opinions has been ratcheted up. Al was always the "Big Caveat".

Hue Jackson went 8-8 and was canned. It's a shock that Allen is probably being shown the door after a season? Horrible, horrible franchise. They should move to LA.

Minnesota, Washington and Kansas City castoff Rich Gannon took the Gruden-led Raiders to the playoffs. Gruden went to the Bucs with Brad Johnson under center and won it all. QB importance.....meh.
