Redskins coach Mike Shanahan said that quarterback Robert Griffin III has a “mild sprain to his LCL,†Mike Jones of the Washington Post reports. Shanahan said that the sprain to the ligament, which is on the outside of the knee, is a “Grade 1″ category, but that there is no other structural damage to the knee. Griffin tore his ACL in the same knee in 2009, but that ligament is fine, Shanahan said. There is some “mild swelling,†Shanahan said, but Griffin has not been ruled out for Sunday’s game at Cleveland. The hope is that with rehab, the swelling will go down and that Griffin will make a speedy recovery. Shanahan said Griffin will be monitored “day-by-day.†Shanahan said “when I looked at it on film, I thought it would be worse than it was.†Source: The Redzone
