Cy Young winner R.A. twinkyey has reached an agreement with the Toronto Blue Jays on a two-year, $25 million extension, pending a physical, that will allow Toronto and the New York Mets to complete their trade, sources tell ESPN's Buster Olney.

twinkyey will be getting the dollar value that he had requested in failed extension talks with the Mets. Some of the money will be paid out immediately this year, along with his $5 million salary, in the form of a signing bonus to offset the difference in taxes between the United States and Canada. The sides are still haggling over how much money will be front-loaded, sources said.

News of an agreement was reported earlier by the Toronto Sun and FoxSports.com.

ESPNNewYork.com's Adam Rubin reported earlier Monday that the Mets will receive highly regarded catching prospect Travis d'Arnaud and Class A right-hander Noah Syndergaard from Toronto. The teams also will exchange catchers, with Josh Thole headed to Toronto and John Buck to the Mets.

That would be the most likely scenario. Its rare a dude suddenly breaks out after over a decade of (at best) mediocrity and keeps up the success.

It's rare that a dude discovers a knuckle ball and can throw it 66-80 MPH. I think twinkyey will be essentially the next Tim Wakefield and will be awesome for the next 2-3 years and then slowly burn out. But he'll get no wear and tear on his arm and piss dudes off ALL THE TIME!

Yeah but its not like he just discovered the knuckleballs this last year. He's been throwing them for years now with limited success...Im not saying he won't have continued success, just that theres not much precedent for it. Dudes rarely have breakout seasons in their late 30's and its even more rare for them to keep it up.

    Wakefield did it.

Wakefield never had a late "breakout" season, and he threw the knuckler his entire career as a pitcher, since he was in the minor leagues. Yes, he had success later in his career when he was twinkyeys age and older, but he had success his entire career up to that point as well. He didn't come out of relative obscurity and suddenly become the best pitcher in baseball in his late 30's.

I have the same feeling about twinkyey that I had with Jeremy Lin and "Linsanity." It's great while it lated, but he won't keep it up.
