The future of suspended New Orleans Saints Coach Sean Payton continues to be a nervous topic for Saints fans, and the latest report will only add to the growing Payton contract drama.

The Saints and Payton are "not close" to a new deal, according to Fox Sports, as Payton could become a coaching free agent if both sides can't come to a resolution on a new contract extension after his original extension was voided by the league.

Much of the speculation of Payton possibly leaving the Saints has surrounded a reunion with Jerry Jones and the Dallas Cowboys if Jason Garrett loses his job. Payton's desire to coach elsewhere if a deal isn't struck could be more far reaching than Dallas, though.

"People thought this is between the Saints and Dallas," Fox Sports' Jay Glazer said Sunday morning. "If this thing doesn't get done ... (Payton) is going to open it up everywhere. He's really not going to limit his options."

Wow I honestly didn't see this coming. I didn't realize it was open for discussion lol. So maybe Dallas is an option.

Depends on if Dallas reaches the playoffs, and how far they go. Personally, I'd love it.
