Based on a strict interpretation of NFL rules, Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton could’ve and maybe should’ve been ejected when he bumped head referee Jerome Boger in the middle of the third quarter after he was hit by Oakland safety Tyvon Branch as he threw a pass to Brandon LaFell, Richard Walker of the Gaston Gazette reports. Boger announced Newton had been called for an unsportsmanlike penalty for “bumping and official.†Replays clearly showed contact between Newton and Boger, though Boger said afterward “I misspoke when I said he bumped the official. What I was penalizing him for was disrespectfully addressing the official. There was some contact between he and I, but it wasn’t of a malicious nature.†Newton opened his postgame news conference by saying he apologized to Boger. “It was just in the heat of the moment,†Newton said. “I apologized again so the next time I see him, we’ll be on good terms.†Source: The Redzone
He should be fined and suspended for what he did,but the guy he bumped was a black man,and maybe that is why he did not eject him!
Yep, Cam's going to be happy with mediocrity as long as he's cheesing for the camera and getting his numbers.
