While it’s possible recently signed Cardinals QB Brian Hoyer could be activated for a game before the season ends, Pro Football Weekly hears the team decided to take a flier on the ex-Patriot with an eye more toward the 2013 season, and that it was unlikely Hoyer would see any action this season. Said one team insider: “They’re going to want to keep a young QB around that doesn’t cost too much, and he seems to fill the bill.†Source: Pro Football Weekly
Keep him and get rid of the rest of them. He has yet to be completely infected by the AZ inepticus virus.
If they are looking to keep Hoyer what took them so long to get on the roster or did they see that much in him within a weeks practice that he's better than the other 2-3 QBs on the roster and just now, Week 17, are realizing it?!?
Kolb on the IR weeks ago and Skelton was missing receivers that your grandmother would hit. He deservedly lost the HC's confidence. So it was down to Lindley only and they had a spot for a QB. No question you will see Kolb and Skelton gone...unless Whiz sticks around.
Yessir. He was the heir apparent. Even after Mallett was drafted Hoyer was supposed to be the keeper and Mallett was trade bait. But Mallett impressed big time. I like Hoyer alot. I really think he can excel if given a decent chance.
Lindley will improve. His deal as a prospect was he had franchise tools but needed to spend time refining his game. IMO, next season he will probably be what Foles was this season Sent from my HTC Vivid
This is another team that needs to build up their o-line. No QB in the NFL is going to be successful behind that laughable mess. They need help there. They also should see what they have in these two QB's and choose one as the stopgap to whomever they bring in as the franchise guy, be it this year or next in the draft. Also, is Ryan Williams going to be able to be the man with Beanie more than gone? Or is it time to move past him?
I've bashed Lindley because of the plays where he wasn't running for his life he would stare down his primary and never look off to a second or third. In reality, rookie mistake that could be worked out. I touted him after last year's draft as potential diamond in the rough and should be given the chance, behind a decent O-Line, to compete against Hoyer. Kolb and Skelton just have to be cut/traded and the Cards eat some $. Williams has proven that he can play and unless the Cards go after Steven Jackson, Williams will undoubtedly be the man. Again, where Beanie does have the ability to drive the pack back one or two yard, Williams can't and will depend on a different O-Line. If Jackson is here, well, he's Steven Jackson and will still do his thing.
Him keying on a receiver might be orders from above too. You'd be surprised how short of a leash these young guys are given.
