Vikings running back is 208 yards away from breaking Eric twinkyerson's single season rushing records. twinkyerson appeared on NFL Network's Total Access and said that if there was person deserving of getting the record, it is Peterson.

twinkyerson said, "I'm going to be honest. I'm not going to give the political answer that everyone wants you to say. I'm pulling for Adrian to stay healthy and win MVP. I do not want him to break my record. I'm not going to tell that lie, but he's such a great player, and I'll say it: If a record that is meant to go down to one guy, it'd have to be him."

"Everybody wants to keep their records until they die, maybe their son comes along and breaks the record, something like that, but I just want to hold on to it.. I'm just honest about it. Like I say, great player, deserving of a record like that, deserves to be in the 2,000-yards club, that type of player, but, you know, I want to hang on to my record. If he breaks it, I'm going to be very happy for him."

ED has never done anything negative to me, my family, or friends. I loved his running style and he was one of the funnest backs to watch when I was young.

He's always been likable in my book. Not that I'm dissing Peterson in any manner.

well, barry bonds has never done anything negative to me, my family, or friends either, but i will still hope i get to see someone who appears to be a better human being break his record before i die.

i agree e.d. was a tremendous athlete and i also enjoyed watching him play. he's just a little too cocky in my book and a.p. seems to be a better person in general.

i could be wrong and a.p. could be a serial killer and e.d. could be the most kind, humble, giving person in the world ............... but i'm rarely wrong. :newlaugh:

I don't think anyone who sets a record like this ever wants to see it get broken, I think that's just human nature.

There honestly is no rhyme or reason as to why I prefer E.D. over A.P., except that it just may be reminiscing of my NFL watching youth. Whatever the reason, I don't want AP to pass him.

Doesnt Peterson have to get like 300 yards or something to pass twinkyerson? I don't think that's going to happen...

He needs somewhere around 200 in the last game.

To be honest, none of the rushing records really mean crap cause oj simpson broke his in a 14 game season. the 6 above him all had 16 game seasons.

out of all of the 2000 yard seasons, the murderer's season is by far the most impressive, not only because he did it in 14 games but because they had absolutely no talent around him on offense/no passing game to take off some pressure.

terrell davis and jamal lewis got their 2000 yards just because they both got almost 400 carries. kudos to them for their endurance but that doesn't make them the best ever.

i think the only other 2000 yard rusher that averaged 6.0 ypc like the murderer did was sanders and the lions were actually a pass-first team so sanders didn't face the stiff defenses.

o.j.'s 1973 season was far and away the single best rushing season the league has seen. i don't want to get into a yards from scrimmage/td convo because that's a whole different discussion and then we have to throw L.T.'s 2006 season and many others into the convo.
