Pat Yasinskas of ESPN.com writes that the Carolina Panthers are in such a bad cap position this offseason that they could be forced to cut some key players like CB Chris Gamble, RB DeAngelo Williams and possibly even LB Jon Beason.

According to Yasinskas, Carolina is projected to have a cap number close $136 million, which is pretty high when you consider that 2013′s cap is expected to be just over $120 million.

The Panthers have been very aggressive in locking up their players in recent years, but the problem is that releasing guys like Jonathan Stewart, Steve Smith, and Charles Godfrey would do much to solve their issues.

Yasinskas believes Williams, Gamble, S Haruki Nakamura and DT Ron Edwards are the most likely players to be cut loose. Carolina may also have to approach Benson about restructuring his current deal and after all of this, they still will not have cash to spend on free agents.

As long as we draft well, we can afford to lose some people. Except for Beason and Smith. We like them. Gamble is getting up there, agewise, and he is disposable, seeing what Munnerlyn can do
