This continues to be a rough offseason for former Bears coach Lovie Smith. The Bears missed the playoffs, Smith was fired and then he interviewed for the Bills job Saturday, but Buffalo hired Doug Marrone on Sunday morning. Smith reportedly is on the Chargers’ radar, but they're also looking for a general manager so once the Chargers hire a GM, it may open the door for Smith to get a look in San Diego. Smith was knocked in Chicago for the team’s offensive problems, but his defenses usually were excellent and he consistently had the respect of his players. Smith’s overall record with the Bears was 81-63 over nine seasons, including a Super Bowl appearance with Rex Grossman at quarterback. Source: Sporting News
I believe he would have gotten fired even if they went to the NFC Championship game. Maybe he should go the DC route for a year or two then come back as a head coach. Hey Lovie, we could use you. Do you perform miracles?
head coaches that don't show a lot of knowledge about the QB position have trouble finding jobs in this league i suppose .............. maybe that's why lovie and whiz are not receiving much interest?
used to a defensive coach could make a good head coach but no more unless he turns over the reigns to an offensive guru. Too many rules against the defense nowadays.
LSs resume is built on DC, not HC. That's why there's no 'heards' on HC out there. The teams aren't blind like the talking heads are.
