Colin Kaepernick Romps As 49ers Thrash Packers 45-31, Advance To NFC Championship

Colin Kaepernick produced with his arm and his legs Saturday night in leading the host San Francisco 49ers to a 45-31 victory over the Green Bay Packers in an NFC divisional round playoff game at Candlestick Park.

San Francisco advances to the NFC Championship game on Jan. 20, against the winner of Sunday's game between the Seattle Seahawks and Atlanta Falcons. The Niners will be at home if Seattle wins, but they'll head to Atlanta if the top-seeded Falcons win.

Kaepernick, the second-year quarterback who took over for Alex Smith as the Niners' starter late in the season, rushed for 181 yards and two touchdowns, scoring on runs of 20 and 56 yards. He also threw for 263 yards and two scores.

well, everyone is talking about his rushing yards, but Kaep got more accurate with his throws as the game went along .......... not sure if he was nervous in the 1st half or if the packers were throwing some coverages at him that were confusing him ............ but, in general, the running lanes were enormous for the niners all night and their receivers were wide open many times. Capers and his defense got dominated and that's all there is to it.

 

That o-line mauled the Packers. They couldn't deal with the physical dominance up front. By far that was the best showing by the 49ers on offense this year.

 

In buffalo with Alex they had 300 yards rushing and 300 yards passing which is the only time in the history of the NFL that happened.

 

Yeah but that was against Buffalo. Buffalo. In the regular season. This was a January game against an elite team with a ton of pressure on them, it's not even close to the same thing. Oh, and they almost did it again anyway, 323 rushing 256 passing.

 

Dude, it was Buffalo. Who didn't they make look good?

 

It's against board rules to say anything positive about Alex Smith.

 

i was just commentating on the part that the 49ers offense had their best showing of the year when it was buffalo that was their best showing. No matter how bad Buffalo is doing NO OTHER TEAM had ever had 300 yards passing and 300 yards rushing in the history of the NFL. Now thats not to say that yesterday was more impressive because it was but it wasnt the first time they have been that dominant.

 

Well I am sure Alex has the headline clipped and frame in his den. Or is it wrapped up and in the moving truck already?

At the end of the day this is a league where 'what have you done for me lately' is the law of the land. Hence why Alex is refilling the water cups while Colin shows why he's the ideal option for this offense.

 

No doubt that Colin is the better option, but "what have you done for me lately"? He went 6-2 as a starter with a rating of 104.1. Can you people please stop acting like he sucked?

 

At the end of it all, only Harbaugh knows why he made the call. Smith has looked nice the last two seasons, but Harbaugh wanted to open up that offense (IMO), which is why he was pushed aside.

That said, Smith had 6 years to prove something, and it wasn't until he was under Harbaugh that he became consistent and DID.
