Armando Salguero tweets that the Miami Dolphins are working on a contract extension for SS Reshad Jones. Jones, 24, is under contract through the 2013 season for $575,000. He was rated as the No. 3 safety this year by Pro Football Focus, which is obviously outstanding. The Dolphins could be looking to lockup Jones now with the hope that he’s willing to accept a more reasonable contract now versus waiting until he’s set to hit the open market like FS Chris Clemons will be doing in the coming months. Miami has a number of free agents to address this offseason, but has made it pretty clear that even though they have plenty of cap space, they’re only going to consider re-signing players at their price.
