Steven Jackson told NFL.com fantasy editor Michael Fabiano he plans to sit down with the St. Louis Rams in the offseason to determine his options, but admitted that “retirement is an optionâ€￾ if he’s not entirely happy. The veteran back referred to the retirement Detroit Lions great Barry Sanders as an example of a player who walked away in his prime instead of staying in the game too long.

Jackson also talked about playing with Marshall Faulk, saying he learned from the Hall of Famer “how to be a pro on and off the fieldâ€￾. He later added that it’s a process that current Rams backup Daryl Richardson is learning as well.

haha. putting himself in the same comparison as barry sanders is a joke.

bye bye jackson. have a good life.

jackson will be nothing more than a footnote in the history books. He is the Ottis Anderson of this generation. i will give him credit for being pretty durable and handling a ton of touches every year but he is/was nothing special.

Not only that, but he's really not in his "prime" either...

I think this is one of those cases of a really good player getting stuck on a crap team his entire career. I think he's a lot better than people will remember him being, but he never got the chance to show it.

He's Obviously not Barry Sanders good, he can't be amazing on a terrible team. But I think he could have been really really good on an average or better team.
