Cowboys starting nose tackle Jay Ratliff was arrested and charged with DWI in the early morning hours Tuesday after he crashed his 2011 Ford pickup truck into a 18-wheeler, according to Grapevine, Texas police senior officer Sam Shemwell.

Ratliff and the driver of the tracker trailer were not injured, according to Shemwell.

Police arrived in the 2800 block of East State Highway 114 at 12:36 a.m. to investigate a crash. Police, according to Shemwell, upon an investigation of the crash, arrested Ratliff after allegedly determining he was intoxicated.

Cowboys officials, in Mobile watching practices for Saturday's Senior Bowl, declined comment while Ratliff's agent, Mark Slough, declined comment.

Those Cowboys just keep on being outstanding citizens, don't they? You just buried a teammate who was the victim of a drunk driver who also was a teammate, and this is the best you can do?

He is certainly not the first pro athelete to get caught dui,and will not be the last.if i owned a team,i'd put a clause in player contracts penalizing them when they get caught doing stupid crap like this, but it would not probably not do anygood today since most of these guys have a god complex,as in they seem to think they can do whatever they want regardless of what their contract says, and get by with it.

There are no consequences on the Cowboys team. No discipline. None. That is one of the major problems on this team.

That is one of the reasons i think that garrett can still get the boot with in the next 2 weeks.

I don't get that felling for some reason. I still think he's HC for 2013. If his W-L record doesn't improve past 8-8, Jerry has to come to the conclusion that the problem, at least one of the problems, is the HC.

@Rich::icon_frown: I thought that was uncalled for.

    smeagle:Thank you. Exactly my point.

In Kevin Sherrington's column in yesterday's DMN concerning Ratliff's DWI arrest, the headline reads "With Cowboys, nothing ever changes." And underneath that, it reads, "After another DWI charge, it's clear culture needs to be adjusted."

IMO, Sherrington's right on both counts.
