The Steelers and Ravens have a fierce rivalry but at least one Steelers player is rooting for the Ravens in Super Bowl XLVII, Mark Kaboly of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports. Center Maurkice Pouncey said Thursday before a rainy practice at Hickam Air Force Base in Hawaii in preparation for Sunday‘s Pro Bowl that he is hoping Baltimore wins in retiring linebacker Ray Lewis‘ final game. “I am rooting for Ray Lewis,†Pouncey said. “He is from my hometown (Pouncey is from Lakeland, Fla., and Lewis is from nearby Bartow). If he would be able to go out on top, it would be great for our city.†Source: The Redzone
Steelers C Maurkice Steelers' Pouncey Rooting For Rival Ravens To Win Super Bowl If not for Ray Ray, I'd be rooting for the Ravens to win...just for the fact that it might motivate the Steelers to take it back next year.
it's probably unusual to root for a divisional rival but there also seems to be 'some' conference loyalty among some of the players. i've heard many of them root for their own conference.
