i'm confused. if they release him under contract, can't another team pick him up on waivers?

 

I believe so.

It's actually good for the players that they are getting cut at this point. Teams may jump at some of these guys before the Flury of free agents hit the market.

 

Dallas maybe? We might be in line for a DT and we are switching to the 4-3 apparently.

 

Canty had a high base salary, and with his age I doubt he gets claimed.
