The NFL is already developing a contingency plan for next year’s Super Bowl, and it has nothing to do with how to deal with another 34-minute electrical blackout. Instead, the league might be looking at Super Bowl Saturday.

NFL officials are looking into possibly playing the big game on a Saturday or postponing it several days if the weather is too prohibitive, according to a report from Sports Business Daily. The 2014 Super Bowl is scheduled for Feb. 2 at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey and will be the first Super Bowl ever to be held in an open-air stadium in the northeast.

The league is considering various options that include the possibility of delaying the contest several days in the event of a weather emergency on game day.

Sunday is such a tradition, but I'm not at all surprised they want to consider this

If there's a forecast for 2-3 feet of snow...Saturday is a good idea. Better than trying to postpone it a full week.

I'd prefer they move it to Saturday on a regular basis.

they could and should move it to saturday night.could be a real economic boost to the food, alcohol and hotel industries, and it would give people a whole day to recover.

God forbid if there's weather in the area towards game time. :icon_rolleyes:

Wonder what the plan is if it's too sunny...

Saturdays would be great. You could have people crash instead of leaving early. Let the party continue....

I like the idea of Superbowl Monday as a national holiday a lot better. And heck changing it for weather, it's football.

Super Bowl Saturday doesn't have the same ring to it as Super Bowl Sunday but I'll watch the game whatever day it's on.

Yeah I realize that but as long as I remember the game's been on Sundays, hence SB Sunday. Like I said I'll watch it whenever, even if it was Super Bowl Tuesday.
