NFL Tired Of Adderall Excuse From Suspended Players

No one outside the NFL office knows whether there truly was an outbreak of Adderall abuse last season among players since under its steroid policy, the NFL is powerless to disclose the true nature of a violation.

But the league continues to want that to change, according to Adolpho Birch, the senior vice president of law and labor policy.

“One of the features of the [Major League Baseball] appeals system that we have proposed from the beginning has been to be able to disclose the substance that formed the basis of the violation,†Birch said on Thursday. “It is largely for that point, to make sure that everybody is clear on what that substance was so that there is no misinformation, and ability to go behind and sort of minimize what the nature of an individual’s violation is.

“We think that’s very important, not only for accuracy but also to help other players understand the real types of substances that potentially could lead to a positive result. And so we think from an educational standpoint, it’s important that everyone understands exactly what substances were involved.â€

The players’ union, which has said it would take the MLB drug policy today, including HGH testing, has balked at disclosures for privacy reasons.

The NFL had an increase of in-season violations of its steroid policy this past season, and at least seven players said, either publicly or through media reports, that the amphetamine Adderall was to blame.

So, after a period when NFL players claimed taking cough medicine caused their violations, they seemed to move on to Adderall, which is allowed with permission from the league medical staff.

“I hear a lot of discussion about transparency and how important that is, but when it comes to issues like this or, for example, being able to correct obvious misrepresentations that undermine the effectiveness of a policy, that’s another feature of the MLB policy that we have pushed for, for a number of years now,†Birch said. “Because in our view it undermines the policy itself when misrepresentations can be made without them being corrected.â€

I took Adderall today. A co worker gave me one. Made me feel zoned out all day. Can't see how they can take it and play football.

We used to call adderall the poor mans cocaine and would use it during finals week. It would keep me up through the night writing research papers.

Adderall is the poor mans cocaine, I've used it pretty much every finals week that I've had crap I think I live off Adderall and cigarettes for that entire week.

As much as its abused, a lot of people have legit issues and can't accomplish crap without it. Not that its not terribly over-prescribed.

Adderall is more like poor mans meth considering that its an amphetamine.

Just waiting for Folgers and Maxwell House to be banned.

If the NFL is so sick of Adderall being an excuse, take it off the freaking list. Probably has as much effect on game performance as Red Bull. Is that on the list too?

I agree. IMO there should only be roids and illegal narcotics on the list. All these supplements they have on the list is just stupid. If you can buy it at GNC it should be legal. hecks sake!

Come on you don't think they're doing blow in games now, the only reason an addy would be better is because it lasts longer and it's so much cheaper.

None of these guys are actually testing positive for Adderal, thats the whole point. The league isn't sick of Adderal usage, they are sick of players claiming in public that its what they tested positive for when that's not the case at all. Since the league doesnt disclose what PED they actually tested positive for, the players can say it was whatever banned substance they please without having to worry about being called on it. Adderal is something that the public doesn't view as "bad", generally, since half the freaking population takes it, so why bother admitting to taking "evil" steroids and completely ruining your reputation when you can just say "Oh woops I accidentally took an Adderal, sorry!" and skate.

they probably do take it a lot. would really upgrade a lets say cornerbacks reaction time and focus. A lot of guys probably use it for weight loss to because it destroys appetites
