Daytona 500 Starting Lineup courtesy of ESPN.com Positions 1 & 2 are locked in the race. The rest of the lineup goes as follows: 1. The highest 15 finishers in each Duel race, excluding the already locked-in front row, will earn a spot in the Daytona 500, and fill positions 3-32. 2. Based on their finishing position in the first Duel race, the top 15 will line up on the inside row (odd-number starting positions). 3. Based on their finishing position in the second Duel race, the top 15 will line up on the outside row (even-number starting positions). 4. Positions 33-36 will go to the four fastest cars from qualifying that have not already earned a spot. 5. Positions 37-42 will be provisional positions, and go to the highest six cars in 2012 owner points that have not already qualified via the Duel or Coors Light Pole qualifying. 6. The 43rd starting position will be assigned to any car owner who has the most recent eligible past NASCAR Sprint Cup champion who did not make the field by any other method, providing the driver had competed in the 2012 NASCAR Sprint Cup season. If the 43rd position remains unused it will be assigned to the next highest car in 2012 owner points not already locked into the field POS DRIVER MANUFACTURER CAR SPEED 1 Danica Patrick* Chevrolet 10 196.434 mph 2 Jeff Gordon Chevrolet 24 196.292 mph ------------------------------------------------------------------- 3 Trevor Bayne Ford 21 195.976 mph 4 Ryan Newman Chevrolet 39 195.946 mph 5 Tony Stewart Chevrolet 14 195.925 mph 6 Kasey Kahne Chevrolet 5 195.852 mph 7 Denny Hamlin Toyota 11 195.771 mph 8 Kyle Busch Toyota 18 195.767 mph 9 Joey Logano Ford 22 195.767 mph 10 Matt Kenseth Toyota 20 195.725 mph 11 Dale Earnhardt Jr. Chevrolet 88 195.584 mph 12 Ricky Stenhouse Jr.* Ford 17 195.537 mph 13 Juan Pablo Montoya Chevrolet 42 195.508 mph 14 Paul Menard Chevrolet 27 195.503 mph 15 Casey Mears Ford 13 195.495 mph 16 Austin Dillon Chevrolet 33 195.385 mph 17 Carl Edwards Ford 99 195.240 mph 18 Clint Bowyer Toyota 15 195.228 mph 19 Martin Truex Jr. Toyota 56 195.207 mph 20 Jeff Burton Chevrolet 31 195.156 mph 21 Jimmie Johnson Chevrolet 48 195.084 mph 22 Jamie McMurray Chevrolet 1 195.042 mph 23 Brad Keselowski Ford 2 194.961 mph 24 Marcos Ambrose Ford 9 194.793 mph 25 Kevin Harvick Chevrolet 29 194.742 mph 26 Aric Almirola Ford 43 194.742 mph 27 Greg Biffle Ford 16 194.729 mph 28 Mark Martin Toyota 55 194.683 mph 29 David Gilliland Ford 38 194.654 mph 30 David Ragan Ford 34 194.616 mph 31 Michael Waltrip Toyota 26 194.313 mph 32 Josh Wise Ford 35 194.254 mph 33 Kurt Busch Chevrolet 78 193.657 mph 34 Michael McDowell Ford 98 193.544 mph 35 Scott Speed Ford 95 193.540 mph 36 Terry Labonte Ford 32 193.515 mph 37 Regan Smith Chevrolet 51 193.096 mph 38 Dave Blaney Chevrolet 7 192.996 mph 39 Bobby Labonte Toyota 47 192.563 mph 40 J.J. Yeah she got the pole for the 500. The Nationwide race is coming on shortly, I'm going to watch it. I bet Danica causes a big one not even 50 laps into the race :icon_evil:
There was a bad accident today at Daytona. A pileup near the fence sent flying debris into the stands. I'm hearing that as many as 15 people were hurt. There may even be fatalities.:icon_frown:
Yeah it was bad, worse than when Carl Edwards car went into the fence at Daytona or Talladega I can't remember. Crazy things always happen on the last lap of Daytona races. Tomorrow will probably be no different. Hope all the injured fans fully recover and I haven't seen anything reported on fatalities yet and hope not to see any.
I just saw film of that wreck this morning. That was a bad one. NASCAR fans are a tough bunch. I saw one woman who was injured after yesterday's crash. She now has a broken leg. She said she'll be back today to see the race. There's just one problem. The forecast is for on and off storms until Wed. NASCAR may have to postpone the race until then.:icon_frown:
Just checked the radar for Daytona Beach and yeah, looks like the storms may get there in a couple of hours, which might cause a red flag or postponement of the race. I hope not cause wasn't it the 500 last year when there was the big fire and the race didn't start back up again til after midnight eastern time?
Well my driver, Stewart, got knocked out of the race way early so I watched it off and on after that. Freakin Jimmie Johnson won again.
My favorite is Dale Jr. I don't mind Gordon or Johnson though. I just freaking hate kyle Busch. Seriously. Freaking hate everything about him.
LOL me too. In fact, he may have caused the wreck today that took out Harvick and Stewart, among others. The camera angle was bad but looked like he tapped Kahne and sent him spinning. Probably my favorite moment of the day, before the race started Erin Andrews was working the crowd and she happened upon 50 Cent. He tried to kiss her on live tv and then followed her for a few feet before the show went to commercial. LOL can't blame him for trying.
