Yeah, trading down is always a nice idea in theory, but they need a partner to make that happen and if there's nobody they like themselves at #1 , it's pretty unlikely that anyone else is going want the spot either. It's just a bad year to be stuck with a high pick, there's no clear cut studs up top, just a bunch of question marks and maybes.
This draft is so deep with quality across the offensive line that they wouldn't need to trade up in order to greatly improve in that area. It would just be a waste of picks. Even though the value isn't there, at this point in time I can't see the Chiefs going with anyone other than Geno Smith.
