There are a whole host of things that can raise red flags for NFL teams when they evaluate prospects at the combine and the draft. Sam Montgomery raised one of those in a big way Saturday at the 2013 NFL Combine when he admitted he didn't go 100 percent every time on the field.

Montgomery was asked about the report that his coaches at LSU weren't always happy with the effort he gave and he said when the Tigers "didn't have to play the harder teams" he wouldn't max things out.

"You know, some weeks when we didn't have to play the harder teams, there were some times when effort was not needed," Montgomery said. "But when we had the big boys coming in, the [Alabamas] or the South Carolinas, I grabbed close to those guys and went all out."

Props to Montgomery for being honest, but that's a really bad quote. You want to be honest, but you definitely don't want to own up to not going 100 percent whenever you play an inferior opponent.

"This is a new league, the NFL and there are no small teams, small divisions, it is all Alabamas and LSUs every week," Montgomery said. "It's definitely something I have to get adjusted to, but I'm sure with the right coaching I will be fine."
