Positions 1 & 2 are locked in the race. The rest of the lineup goes as follows:

    1. The highest 15 finishers in each Duel race, excluding the already locked-in front row, will earn a spot in the Daytona 500, and fill positions 3-32.
    2. Based on their finishing position in the first Duel race, the top 15 will line up on the inside row (odd-number starting positions).
    3. Based on their finishing position in the second Duel race, the top 15 will line up on the outside row (even-number starting positions).
    4. Positions 33-36 will go to the four fastest cars from qualifying that have not already earned a spot.
    5. Positions 37-42 will be provisional positions, and go to the highest six cars in 2012 owner points that have not already qualified via the Duel or Coors Light Pole qualifying.
    6. The 43rd starting position will be assigned to any car owner who has the most recent eligible past NASCAR Sprint Cup champion who did not make the field by any other method, providing the driver had competed in the 2012 NASCAR Sprint Cup season. If the 43rd position remains unused it will be assigned to the next highest car in 2012 owner points not already locked into the field

Yeah she got the pole for the 500. The Nationwide race is coming on shortly, I'm going to watch it. I bet Danica causes a big one not even 50 laps into the race :icon_evil:

There was a bad accident today at Daytona. A pileup near the fence sent flying debris into the stands. I'm hearing that as many as 15 people were hurt. There may even be fatalities.:icon_frown:

Yeah it was bad, worse than when Carl Edwards car went into the fence at Daytona or Talladega I can't remember. Crazy things always happen on the last lap of Daytona races. Tomorrow will probably be no different. Hope all the injured fans fully recover and I haven't seen anything reported on fatalities yet and hope not to see any.

Apparently there were 28 injured, 14 sent to the hospital and 2 with "major" injuries.

I don't know why people want to sit near the fence. Don't they know what could happen?

I just saw film of that wreck this morning. That was a bad one. NASCAR fans are a tough bunch. I saw one woman who was injured after yesterday's crash. She now has a broken leg. She said she'll be back today to see the race. There's just one problem. The forecast is for on and off storms until Wed. NASCAR may have to postpone the race until then.:icon_frown:

Just checked the radar for Daytona Beach and yeah, looks like the storms may get there in a couple of hours, which might cause a red flag or postponement of the race. I hope not cause wasn't it the 500 last year when there was the big fire and the race didn't start back up again til after midnight eastern time?

Well my driver, Stewart, got knocked out of the race way early so I watched it off and on after that. Freakin Jimmie Johnson won again.

My favorite is Dale Jr. I don't mind Gordon or Johnson though. I just freaking hate kyle Busch. Seriously. Freaking hate everything about him.

LOL me too. In fact, he may have caused the wreck today that took out Harvick and Stewart, among others. The camera angle was bad but looked like he tapped Kahne and sent him spinning.

Probably my favorite moment of the day, before the race started Erin Andrews was working the crowd and she happened upon 50 Cent. He tried to kiss her on live tv and then followed her for a few feet before the show went to commercial. LOL can't blame him for trying. Here's the link:
