The Cowboys placed the franchise tag on OLB Anthony Spencer on Monday. This is the second year in a row that Spencer received the franchise tag. “We will work on a long-term deal,†Spencer’s agent Jordan Woy said on Twitter. Spencer is the first player in Cowboys franchise history to get tagged in back-to-back seasons. Last season, Spencer played in and started 14 games, recording a career-high 95 tackles and 11 sacks, he also had three passes defensed and two forced fumbles. In six NFL seasons, all with Dallas, Spencer has 32½ sacks, 13 passes defensed and 12 forced fumbles, the franchise tag for linebackers in 2013 is worth $9.619 million, but it will cost Dallas $10.63 million for Spencer, since it’s his second tag in a row.
