The Philadelphia Eagles worked out Geno Smith, who could wind up as the top quarterback selected in the 2013 NFL draft, according to ProFootballTalk.com.

With former Oregon coach Chip Kelly taking over the Eagles head coaching duties, it's likely a case of the new boss testing out his available options.

On his current roster, Kelly has dual threat quarterbacks Michael Vick and Dennis Dixon to work with, as well as Nick Foles.

Smith could be appealing to Kelly because he can run the read option as well as throw the ball vertically down the field. However, with this year's quarterback draft class presumably weak, it would be a risk for the Eagles to add yet another quarterback to its roster with a high pick.

I still think the Eagles draft him.

Wouldn't they have let Vick go though if that was their plan all along? It makes sense to me for them to draft him for sure, it just doesn't make sense to still pay him so much to ride pine or mentor Geno.

Or trade Foles and use Vick as a bridge to next season? Vick could teach Smith the "ropes."

As someone who doesn't want Smith drafted by the Eagles, this raises concern. They should know enough about him to not travel. Hopefully it's some kind of smokescreen.
