The Indianapolis Colts have reached an agreement with former 49er defensive tackle Ricky Jean-Francois on a four-year, $22 million contract according to Adam Caplan of thesidelineview.com. Jean-Francois has been in demand this offseason as he can play any position on the defensive line but he has never been a starter. Caplan reports that he has never played more than 27 percent of his team's defensive snaps in a single season. While Colts GM Ryan Grigson deserved the unanimous praise he won on his first season on the job, this signing seems curious in light of Jean-Francois's less-than-dominating stats. Source: The Redzone
Rjf is actually a solid player but 22 mil?! Yeesh the guys never even been a starter until smith got hurt for a few weeks. Don't like this move. No wonder sf let him walk.
Bummer, I always liked the guy and felt he was definitely eventual starter material. Guess the Colts think so too, thats a lot of coin for his track record...I wish he had stayed, but can't fault him for taking that kind of money and a starting gig on a rising team. seems like a lot for a rotational d-lineman but obviously the colts think he is ready to play full-time and become a stud.
