Ever since it was known Steven Jackson would opt out of his contract with the St. Louis Rams, signs pointed to him joining the Atlanta Falcons, now, it’s happened as Jackson has agreed to a contract with the Falcons, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN. That gives the Falcons a needed piece in their high-powered offense to make another run in the NFC playoffs. They fell just short in the NFC Championship Game against the San Francisco 49ers. Jackson, who turns 30 in July, rushed for 1,042 yard and four touchdowns last season for the Rams, he has 10,135 yards and 56 touchdowns in his career. Rumors were Jackson might be a rare free-agent addition for Ted Thompson and the Green Bay Packers, perhaps Jackson found the Packers to be convenient leverage in a negotiation with the Falcons. Reports were out there yesterday that he was close to going to Green Bay. Pair him up with Rodgers in the Falcons backfield and that's not too shabby...
The only reason this confuses me is because they dropped Turner who is the same age and then they pick up SJax who in my opinion has a lot less tread left on the tires from having to carry the Rams offense.
