Cowboys Sign Back Up LB Ernie Sims To A $715,000, 1-Year Contract

The Dallas Cowboys signed backup linebacker Ernie Sims to a one-year contract with a base salary of $715,000, Calvin Watkins of ESPN Dallas reports.

Sims was credited by the Dallas coaches with a total of 42 tackles, one sack and two quarterback pressures last season.

Also, Stephen Jones, the club's executive vice president, said the Sims signing means the Cowboys have "five figures" in cap room available.

Seriously, we are about $100,000 under the cap. David Moore of the DMN said today that we need to trim another $8 to $9 million to sign our rookies from the NFL Draft.

 

Less. I heard somewhere its five figures lol

But I've also heard we are close to contracts with both Romo and Spencer. That's 26 million and change counting against the cap right now. Once those deals get done we are in better shape

I think it's going to be like this for the next two years. This is what happens when you move money around like this. You have to pay the piper at some point.

 

Remember when Ernie Sims was supposed to become somebody in the NFL? What happened to THAT Ernie Sims?

 

Restuctures to free cap space is a never ending cycle. It's just way to easy to get out of cap hell. Hell I remeber years the Colts and Skins were 30 million in the hole before FA and still did what they want
