The Tennessee Titans announced they have released quarterback Matt Hasselbeck today.

“I want to thank Matt for his contributions to our team over the last two years,â€￾ said Titans General Manager Ruston Webster. “He was an important part of the transition process - he was a pro at every turn and he provided an example to the rest of the team. I know that we are a better team for his being here and we wish him the best.â€￾

Hasselbeck spent two seasons with the Titans - the first season as the starter and the second as the backup to Jake Locker. In 2011, he produced the fourth-highest passing total in franchise history and the third-highest of his career (3,571 yards).

Hmmm not sold on Locker being the franchise QB, I wouldn't leave the franchise in his hands personally...
