James Andrews might be the foremost surgeon in the country when it comes to knee reconstructions for athletes but it’s hard to figure how the renowned doctor is doing Robert Griffin III and Marcus Lattimore any good right now. Andrews described Griffin and Lattimore as “superhuman†in their recoveries from knee surgery, according to Stephania Bell of ESPN. He compared them to Adrian Peterson and Bo Jackson. With Griffin and Lattimore still in the middle of their rehabilitations, it doesn’t help them to be compared to Peterson, who had a freakish recovery from a torn ACL this past season, or Jackson, one of the greatest athletes in modern sports. That only ramps up expectations the public has for these athletes and maybe the expectations Griffin and Lattimore have for themselves. Source: National Football Post
ACL's aren't what they used to be. I could see RG3 coming back and not being slowed down. Lattimore on the other hand, his knee was shredded up. I wouldn't expect much if anything at all from him in 2013.
Lattimore's leg looked so bad. One of the worst I've seen, right up there with this ... [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0r0FSyBd5uU]napolean kauffman - YouTube[/ame]
None of the injuries I have seen can compare to joe theisman's compound fracture on Monday night football in 1985. Lattimore,s was pretty awful, and so was willis machagee's!
The video is mislabeled, it's Napoleon McCallum, not Napoleon Kaufman. They drafted Kaufman like a year or two after McCallum did that, I always thought it was strange that the Raiders drafted another Napoleon so soon, to play the same position. Who also ended up leaving the team early for unusual reasons, despite being pretty decent IIRC. Im pretty sure I recall hearing he almost had to have it amputated, like all the muscles and tendons had torn from his calf bones and arterys had been disconnected at the knee and crap. Compound fractures are ugly to see happen but they arent half as damaging as extreme hyperextensions like that. Dude basically had his leg amputated at the knee by that hit without breaking the skin. I doubt Thiesmanns leg bothers him much now other than its being old as crap, but I'd be surprised if McCallum's isnt a major issue for him to this day.
well adrian peterson is a superhuman if hes human at all...im sure lattimore and RG3 are recovering impressively but rush for 2000 yards 8 months after surgery, then come see me for a superhuman label
