We imagine Donovan McNabb was enjoying lunch Friday afternoon, eating an avocado kale salad (or something else healthy), when he looked up at a TV to learn Tony Romo signed a massive contract extension, and McNabb's mouth just dropping -- maybe like this. And then he took to Twitter to express just how stunned he was: "Tony Romo 6 yr 55 million dollar extension. Wow really, with one playoff win. You got to be kidding me" A little off on the numbers McNabb was, but he quickly realized it: "My bad everyone it 55 million guaranteed. It's a total of 108 million, wow" Later Friday evening, McNabb, who works as an analyst for NFL Network, appeared on Total Access to expound on his tweets. "I'm gonna say 'wow' again. And the reason I say that is because when you have one playoff win, quarterbacks are measured by wins and losses," McNabb said. "When you look at what the Cowboys have been able to do in the last couple of years, that's not win the big game. When you're going through an 8-8 season and in 2010 when he hurts his shoulder, takes him out for the season, only plays six games, they're 1-5 at that particular time, is there a reason why (they're) trying to pay him $108 million? "Yes, (they're) trying to open up salary cap space and give more opportunity for more guys to come in. But at 32 years old, (they) could've done a three-year deal, given him a great amount of money, given him an opportunity to re-up maybe in a year or two, and bring some more guys in to help fit the bill of what (they're) trying to do. ... "Giving him $108 million with only one playoff win? There's a lot of questions I have." McNabb's colleague, Shaun O'Hara, tried to explain why Romo was worth the money, noting that Romo is clutch late in games and since 2007 has won more games in the fourth quarter than any other NFL quarterback. To which McNabb had an immediate retort. "But is there a reason he's winning in the fourth quarter?," McNabb said. "Maybe he's turning the ball over in the first three (quarters) that he finds himself putting up those astronomical numbers." Source: USA Today
well, he's technically getting paid to be an analyst so he's just giving his opinion. it may be too much. time will tell.
All Tony would really have to do is something, ANYTHING bad about Mr Sensitive and he wins this slap fight. Sent from my HTC Vivid
