Brendon Ayanbadejo, in an interview with the Baltimore Sun a day after the linebacker was released by the Baltimore Ravens, said a group of gay NFL players may soon be ready to come out together.

"I think it will happen sooner than you think," Ayanbadejo told the Sun's Aaron Wilson. "We're in talks with a handful of players who are considering it. There are up to four players being talked to right now, and they're trying to be organized so they can come out on the same day together. It would make a major splash and take the pressure off one guy. It would be a monumental day if a handful or a few guys come out."

Ayanbadejo, along with Minnesota Vikings punter Chris Kluwe, have vocalized their strong support of gay rights and marriage. While Ayanbadejo suggested to Newsday on Thursday that "his bark" on such an issue may have led to his release, he followed up with the Sun Friday to say he has "no problems at all" with the Ravens.

"I think the Ravens think I'm mad at them, but I'm absolutely not," Ayanbadejo told the Sun. "I love the Ravens. When I say my bark was louder than my bite, I'm saying I'm not the player I once was and the Ravens did the right thing."

Ayanbadejo believes the NFL as a whole can be more outspoken on societal issues. If several current players reveal they are gay, it would be an unprecendented move in the history of American professional team sports.

Wouldn't that be special if they were all
On the same team? Or even better, the whole D line of some team?

I know Kluwe has been a vocal supporter of gay rights and stuff but who is this " we " that Ayanbadejo is talking about? Was he a player rep with the Ravens or something? And whoever that is in that above picture, yeah he's probably one of them lol. When I said " them " I didn't mean any offense....damn political correctness.

If they're gay...whatever. Idc if its a tranny out there as long as they help get that W. In reality, that W is all that matters. I bet the chiefs wouldn't care if they had a team full of gays (aka the rainbow coalition), as long as they were holding that Lombardi trophy (ever so gently). This is a non issue. Come back to me when we let monkeys play this game.

...and i fade back to black.
