With the 17th overall pick in the 2013 NFL Draft, the Steelers select Georgia LB Jarvis Jones. The Peach State native suffered a neck injury his true freshman year at USC, but returned home when cleared by Georgia doctors; the consensus All-American impressed scouts in 2011 with his ability to rush the passer and he didnt let up in 2012, leading the nation in sacks, tackles for loss and forced fumbles. Jones also showed the versatility to play the run and get the job done in coverage. He enters the NFL with some questions with his struggles disengaging at the point of attack and limited length and growth potential, but the production speaks for itself and, as Bruce Irvin reminded us last April, pass rushers dont last long on draft day. Whether or not he would be able to fit in a 4-3 defense like Irvin would depend on how he is used, but he would fit best as a pass rush OLB in a 3-4 like in college. Source: NFL.com
Love the pick. Didn't think he'd be around at 17 for the Steelers to select. Kinda had my heart set on Patterson b/c I didn't think Jones would make it close to 17.

Where is K Train? I figure he'd find a way to get on as soon as we took Frederick to lol Anyways. Outside of Mingo, I thought Jones was the best fit for Pittsburgh in the whole draft. Pure ROLB, while be a 10 sack guy off the bat. And really I didn't see.much of a droppoff from Jones and Mingo if at all Sent from my HTC Vivid
I had jones as the #1 overall prospect...obviously im thrilled. Its a weird sensation on how bitter sweet it is because my little heart was set on patterson but this is probably even better. Best OLB since von miller, not as fast, doesnt have that first step...but he just is a special player. Colbert and Tomlin looked all giddy talking about him, thats 2 years in a row ive gotten my top player as far as value/need goes. Decastro and Jones....im a happy man. Its rounds 2 and 3 that they heck me though
Keith Butler says "never started a rookie LB his entire time in Pittsburgh and doesn't sound like it will happen this year". Jesus Christ Butler and Lebeau can eat a bucket of aids rods.
woodley played a lot as a rookie, near the end he was getting a lot of snaps over haggans...starting is overrated, especially if hes productive rotationally. Aldon smith and bruce irvin werent starters their rookie year, but were productive
