Former NFL safety LeRoy Butler, a four-time Pro Bowler with the Green Bay Packers, had been scheduled to speak at a church in Wisconsin. But that engagement has been canceled, according to Butler on Twitter, because of Butler had Tweeted his support for NBA player Jason Collins, who came out publicly as gay on Monday.

Butler congratulated Collins, but on Tuesday night he learned the church had told him not to appear—unless he deleted the Tweet and admitted he was sorry for it. Butler—who didn't disclose the name of the church—shared that he chose not to comply, even when he was set to make $8,500 for the appearance.

....... because our culture is very wealthy, comfortable, and self-centered and doesn't need to follow religions to give themselves some sort of hope in life ....... ??

Or they are finding that religion isn't as "accepting" as as "they" want you to believe.

eh, if anyone ever thought any religion was created to be 'accepting', they are fooling themselves. Religions are 'accepting' as long as you join them and abide by their rules/ethics. With any religion, either you are with them or you are not. There is no gray area.

Modern "organized" religion is only open to accepting your money. You can keep your opinions.

The disturbing part is that they were going to pay Butler 8.5 grand to speak in a congregation. I wonder how many homeless that "church" could help with that kind of money. Goes to show what their true colors are.
