The Ravens have hired former St. Louis Rams head coach Steve Spagnuolo as a senior defensive assistant, Aaron Wilson of the Baltimore Sun reports.

Spagnuolo has been a defensive coordinator with the New York Giants and New Orleans Saints.

His background with Ravens coach John Harbaugh stems from their days as fellow assistant coaches with the Philadelphia Eagles on Andy Reid's staff. They are close friends.

Spagnuolo coached linebackers in Philadelphia and Harbaugh was the special teams coach.

Actually it's Dean Pees as the DC, he's done a quality job but he is 64 years old, grooming a successor?

lol...was thinking defense, typed offense. Sue me.

Pees...makes it even easier to replace with Spagnuolo.
