To be filed under the "Are you serious?" file, a group of Jacksonville Jaguars fans have started a petition to President Barack Obama to intervene on their behalf to urge Jags GM David Caldwell to stop ignoring fans' pleas and sign Tim Tebow, per ESPN.com. It's understood from watching and listening to Obama that he is a big sports fan, but given things like the economy and the deficit here at home, plus all the fires abroad from Libya, Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan and North Korea, just to name a few, the President should have plenty on his plate to keep him busy with more high priority matters. Caldwell has already said the Jaguars would pass on signing Tebow, who grew up in Jacksonville and later became a star at the University of Florida, where he won the Heisman Trophy. Tebow was released by the New York Jets shortly after the conclusion of the draft. Source: National Football Post
Im not a Tebow fan but this wouldnt be a bad idea for the Jags to sign TEBOW, all the Jags home games would sell out, Tebow is gonna start, the reason I say that is because Tebow beat out Kyle Orton in Denver and there is " No QB " on the Jags roster " right now " thats even better then Orton. So let Tebow compete for the starting job it wont hurt anything except sell out all of your home games and dont forget Jersey sales.
The Jags "poor" ticket sales is a big misconception. Their sales are far from terrible. They play in a stadium that is too large to start with, but they do sell at a 97% of capacity which ranks them above teams like Pittsburgh and Chicago. Their percentage is higher than Washington and they also rank higher than the Dolphins or Bucs. It's not the best, but it's not "terrible" like everyone perceives.
well its obvious this group of fans aren't real bright, but to petition President Obama is just hilarious
Tebow's success in Denver should be mostly attributed to the Denver coaching staff, and surrounding talent. The coaches completely changed the plays the called on both offense and defense when Tebow was the starter... That team won despite Tebow's horrible decisions and play through 90% of the game. I still say that the guy running the ball into the end zone doesn't have to be the fastest or most talented guy on the field.
On the business side of things Tebow going to Jacksonville would be great for them. I would hate to be the starter in Jacksonville though with Tebow on the bench behind me. The crowd will eat you alive after every single mistake.
