Looking to add some competition for Gino Gradkowski and more versatility along the offensive line, the Ravens agreed to send a conditional 2014 draft pick today to the Indianapolis Colts for center A.Q. Shipley, Jeff Zrebiec of the Baltimore Sun reports. The trade will become official when Shipley passes a physical. Shipley, a seventh-round pick out of Penn State by the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2009, started five games at center for Indianapolis last season and saw action in 14 total games, at 6 feet 1 and 309 pounds, Shipley can also play guard. He was expendable because the Colts have veteran starting center Samson Satele returning, along with 2012 fourth-round pick Khaled Holmes. With the Ravens, Shipley is expected to compete with Gradkowski for the starting center spot, which became open when Matt Birk retired. Source: The Redzone
I sure did and he was BAD. If they think they are better off with samson satele, that speaks a lot about how horrible Shipley is with his little baby t-rex arms. *I did see him last year, but 72% of my opinion is formed on his stint with the steelers and the waste of a draft pick
He was actually pretty solid last year, especially later, check that last Houston game out. Colts fans are upset and felt like beside better guards they were better off with him over Satele but they did just draft Holmes. PFF graded him out pretty well as well. I think your 2009 slight is clouding your 2013 opinion lol.
I have a buddy over there that also writes for the site i write for, i partially agree with you, they do good work over there, they keep things in proper prospective i think. However i think some things you cant quantify with advanced stats, etc. I've always went with the good ole eye ball test first before anything.
I get it, i think its interesting for sure and they do a good job trying to sabermetric football statisitics, i just dont think it works like that with football but they arent the worst thing to cite, some people take it too much to heart though and some of their stats are pretty odd
Yea feel you, it is a bit annoying when a player is brought up and the first thing a guy says is PFF rates him...or in basketball the guys has a per of....How bout just look at the guy and tell me if he sucks or not!? lol
FO, especially listings arent as "out there" as PFF. Thats one of the reasons why PFF is popular because there data is more available
