Franchise owner Daniel Snyder told USA Today in a blog post the same thing Redskins officials have said frequently, publicly and otherwise, when it comes to the team name. Changing it is not under consideration. “We’ll never change the name,†he said. “It’s that simple. NEVER — you can use caps.†He also told Erik Brady that Redskins fans understand why. “We will never change the name of the team,†Snyder said. “As a lifelong Redskins fan, and I think that the Redskins fans understand the great tradition and what it’s all about and what it means, so we feel pretty fortunate to be just working on next season.†Recently, an AP poll found widespread support — about 4 in 5 — for keeping the name. The D.C. Sports Blog chronicled the poll and both the team’s reaction, and local discussion, including a suggestion they become the ‘Redtails.’ Source: Washington Post
I have been a redskins fan since 1970,and this is only he 2nd or 3rd thing I have actually respected dan Snyder for doing since he bought the team!
I wonder if the protesters will start complaining about all the college and highschool teams in the usa that use redskins as their mascots/team names!?
