Conor Orr of the Newark Star-Ledger reports Garant Evans, the driver of the SUV where Jets running back Mike Goodson riding passenger side when the two were arrested and hit with a litany of gun and drug charges, admitted that the .45-caliber Taurus Millennium handgun found in the vehicle was his, according to Goodson's attorney, Tony Fusco. Fusco, whose client has plead not guilty to all charges, including the ownership of the gun, said he received a copy of the police report yesterday and that Evans confessed to owning the weapon the night of the arrest. The gun, which included at least one hollow-point round, was the most significant charge faced by the Jets running back and could carry a mandatory minimum sentence of 3-5 years. "The New Jersey State Police report indicates that upon speaking to Evans, the driver, he stated the gun was his," Fusco said today, claiming to be reading directly from the police report.
