Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski will have back surgery on Tuesday, his fifth surgery since November, 2012, according to multiple reports. There is no clear timetable for Gronkowski to return to the field for the Patriots.

The 24-year-old tight end is expected to have his back surgery by Dr. Robert Watkins, who recently performed back surgery on the New York Giants’ Jason Pierre Paul. Gronkowski was experiencing chronic back pain and the Patriots anticipated the fifth surgery for Gronkowski.

Gronkowski underwent his fourth arm surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston on May.

He's the Troy Tulowitski of the NFL. Immensely talented but can't stay healthy. Maybe during his rehab, he won't go out and party...

Yea i'm getting sick of reading these stories. I bet he's out again by week 3.

I think they are just slowly turning him into the Bionic Man, and we are all stupidly taking the bait and believing he needs all these surgeries. Belicheat has taken it to the next level!

I doubt he's ready for the season. We probably won't see him till week 3, and see him get knocked out around week 12
